Core Table

This mirror topped concrete coffee table references the core-drill patterns of blasted stone. When stone formations are dynamited to build roadways, these patterns are left as permanent scars on the landscape. Reinterpreted here as a textural element on an outdoor piece, the pattern also recalls the crude formwork of brutalist architecture. Concrete between the cylindrical flutes is broken away mechanically at random, creating this unique texture.
